Day 54

The house is looking more and more like a house which means it's getting closer and closer to us moving in.  As far as we know, we're still looking to move in mid-November.

Day 51

We're getting to the point in the house building where there is less change to see on the outside of the house.  When we first pulled up our reaction was, "Oh, it's the same as last time."  But then all of a sudden Ken said, "Look!  We have a sidewalk!"  It was pretty exciting to see cement set for the sidewalk and entrance to our driveway.  We also started to notice more detailed work around the outside of the house and the roof has had more work done to it.

Day 44

We went by the house today just as the model home was closing (we take our pictures from upstairs in the model home because it's across the street from our house).  We were able to meet Paul, who will be the owner of the model home.  That was neat because he's the first neighbor who we've met.  He has a 1 year old and a 3 year old (both boys).  We've also learned that another neighbor two doors down has 3 young boys and Ken's dad knows a couple moving into the community with a little girl close to Katelyn's age.  It brings so much joy to us to know that we're moving into a community where our kids will have other kids to grow up with!

Day 40

This is our den that will start out as the kids' play room.

This is our great room and you can see where the fireplace has been installed (in black).

This is the kitchen island.  I can't wait to have a nice, large kitchen.

This will be Evan's room.

This is Katelyn's room.

This is the front porch.  It wraps around the house some and I just found out that it has lights so that will be nice!

This is the side view of our backyard.  There is another house's yard in the picture also.

Here's the back view of the house.  The 3 windows downstairs are the great room and the 3 upstairs are the master bedroom.

This is the sliding door to the kitchen.  We'll have a covered patio outside.

This is the backyard from the house.  We just found out that the slope in the back will be landscaped so that is nice.
Those of you who know the Bible know that 40 is a special number.  I don't think it's by accident then that the first time we got to walk through our new home was on the 40th day of it being built.  We trust that God is the one opening the doors for us to move into this home and we continue to see his fingerprints as we walk down this path.

Day 34

Here's the house today.  They're getting ready to put the roof pieces on top to weigh down the house so it can "settle."  We should see that in the next week.  And some of the other houses have their windows put in so we're expecting windows in the next week.  I can't wait.  We also saw an air conditioning crew out there today and someone who looked like an electrician the other day.  It's so neat to see all the pieces come together!

Day 32

Today begins the second month of the house being built.  We went by today and were amazed that workers were out there working in over 100 degrees of heat.  You may notice some little details that they've added to the house.  They've started the front patio wood and they've also done some of the design or trim that are in the triangles on the house. I don't really know how to explain it other than that.

Day 26

We went over the house today and the workers were working on it.  That was fun for the kids to see.  Katelyn was fascinated by the workers being up so high.  It was neat to see the stairs inside the house. Can't wait until it's safe enough for us to walk through it!

Day 24

They've started working on the second story now.  It's amazing to see how they build the house.  The single story homes that they are building already have the wood on for the roofs.  I think that to do our roof they have to add scaffolding for the workers to stand on because I saw it set up by one of the other two-story houses today.  It'll be interesting to see how long it takes them to get the roof up and the walls on a two-story house.
